Tips For Use
General Tips:
- Avoid spraying while bees are actively foraging. Avoid spray drift to flowering weeds or flowering crops in the vicinity of the treatment area.
- Avoid applying more than 2 sprays per season on turf.
- Spray droplets used should be no smaller than a coarse spray droplet size category.
- Mandatory downwind buffer zones – Natural Aquatic Areas:
- 10m, Pollinator Areas: 110m.
- Foliar targeted applications (Mites, Couch Fly):
- Apply in 400-800L of water per hectare.
- Using an acidifying & spreader surfactant (e.g. Wilt 700 or Manta Ray) will maximise tank stability and improve coverage.
- Soil-borne insects won’t be controlled if the product is used as a foliar application.
- Soil Targeted applications (Ground Pearl, African Black Beetle, Argentinian Scarab, Billbug, Argentinian Stem Weevil, Mole Cricket):
- Apply in a water volume >400L per hectare and irrigate with at least 3 mm of water commencing within 1 hour of application.
- Foliage-based insects won’t be controlled when the product is washed into the soil.
- Using a soil surfactant will assist in maximising soil movement and coverage of the insecticide.
Restraints:
- Do not use on fine textured compacted clay soils without amelioration before treatment application.
- Do not apply if heavy rains or storms are forecast within 48 hours.
- Do not irrigate to the point of field runoff for at least 48 hours after application.
- Do not apply if rainfall is imminent. The effect of this product could be diminished if rain falls within 6 hours of application.
- Do not apply to turf under heat or moisture stress.
- Do not apply by backpack.
- Do not apply by aircraft.
- Do not apply by vertical sprayer.
- Do not apply through any type of irrigation system or ultra-low volume spray system.
- Do not apply more than 2 sprays per season on turf.
- Do not apply with a nozzle height over 50 cm above the ground.
Mixing:
- Use only clean spraying equipment in good condition.
- Half-fill the spray tank with clean water and commence agitation.
- Add the required quantity of product directly to the water, then add a mixing partner and complete the filling to the final volume.
- Spray immediately and maintain agitation throughout.
- Do not allow the spray mixture to remain in the tank overnight or for long periods without agitation.
Application:
- Apply by ground boom sprayer, low-pressure hand wand or handgun sprayer.
- To be effective, Scarlet Trio Advanced requires thorough spray coverage.
- Ensure equipment is properly calibrated to give an even distribution at the correct volume.
- Application volume should be adequate to ensure thorough and even coverage of turf leaves with penetration into the crowns.
- The total application volume should be 400 to 800 L/ha.
- Use coarse droplets (e.g. Air Induction flat fan 025 to 04 nozzles).
- In higher-cut turf (>15 mm), a significant spray shielding effect can occur, negatively impacting spray penetration and even coverage at low application volumes.
Precautions: Re-Entry Period
General Public:
- Do not allow entry into treated areas until the spray has dried.
Occupational Users:
- Do not allow entry into treated areas until the spray has dried unless wearing cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing) and chemical-resistant gloves.
- Clothing must be laundered after each day’s use.
Protection Of Honey Bees And Other Insect Pollinators:
- Highly toxic to bees.
- Harmful to bee brood.
- Clothianidin has systemic action.
- Do not spray while bees are actively foraging.
- Do not allow spray drift to flowering weeds or flowering crops in the vicinity of the treatment area.
- Before spraying, notify beekeepers to move hives to a safe location with an untreated source of nectar and pollen if there is potential for managed hives to be affected by the spray or spray drift.
- The risk to bees is reduced by spraying early morning and late evening while bees are not foraging.
- Residues may remain at levels toxic to bees for several days following application.
Protection Of Crops, Native And Other Non-Target Plants:
- Drift Warning – Do not apply under weather conditions or from spraying equipment, which could be expected to cause spray to drift onto adjacent crops, croplands, pastures or livestock.
Protection Of Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans And the Environment:
- Very toxic to aquatic life.
- Do not contaminate wetlands or watercourses with this product or used containers.
Storage:
- Store in the closed, original container in a cool, well-ventilated area.
- Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.
Safety Directions:
- Harmful if inhaled or swallowed.
